O2COOL NEW 10" Battery Operated Fan with Adapter (6-D batteries) review

This model of O2COOL battery operated fans has been optimized to be suitable for camping or in the office. With slim and compact design which could even stand in very narrow dimension, combined with carry handle, you could easily put this portable fan into your luggage and carry it around. The best development in my opinion is that it uses less batteries than the 8-D battery model, which not only makes this small fan lighter, but also save tons of money spending on buying batteries (and D-batteries is freaking expensive). Of course the battery longevity is shorter, but it can still last more than enough (about 30 hours). The blow is powerful, and the cage is sturdy enough to keep your kids and your pets safe, however the tilt is not adjustable. In a nutshell, I think this is a good fan, both for travel fan and table fan.

Functionality

Cooling : Considering it is a battery powered product, it could be said that this little fan provides really nice and cool breeze. Even though it seems to be a little bit weaker than the 8-D batteries, I think it is quite powerful for the size. It works best within the range of about 3 feets. This portable fan promises to be a great solution for use in power outage case, vehicles, offices or when go camping. However, like other portable fans, it blows stronger in AC mode than in battery mode.
Noise : It is very quite, on low speed it is just about as loud as a ceiling fan. It is a bit noisier when battery-operated than when being plugged. Nevertheless, some fans might start rattling after a time using it. Loose wire are usually the culprit. Unsecurely anchored blade is also a contributor to this problem (common problem with electric fans).
Battery longevity : Nice live-long battery life. It can run continuously for about 30 hours in low speed and about 20 hours in high speed. Perfect choice for camping and really a live-saver when power goes out. Shorter battery longevity than 8-D batteries powered fan, but still good enough. In case you use AA rechargeable batteries instead of D batteries, it could last for 7 hours on each set. You can also use it with a USB to USB cord, however the wind output will be less significant. Anyway, consuming less batteries is really a good plus of this model comparing to 8-D battery model.
Durable : You should expect about 6 month – 1 year if you use it frequently. I think we could not expect more from a battery operated fan. If you plan on using it at least 8-10 hours per day, you’d better spend money on a more expensive fan.

Style

Nice and compact design. It looks moderm, and it is so slim that could be put in very narrow area. It is lightweight (only about 2.3 pounds, which is hardly noticeable to carry), and portable. Moreover, it has an indentation at the top of the fan, which you could use your finger to carry. Ideal for the designated purpose of travelling. Moreover, thanks to the batteries in the base, it could stand steadily.
However, unlike the 8-D battery operated fan, this model does not have a tilting base, which means the tilt is not adjustable.
The switch is a little bit annoying with a “stop” function in the middle between “low” and “high”. “Off” is all the way down, then “low”, then “stop”, then “high” is all the way up. Furthermore, the fragility of the switch and the lightweigh of the fan makes it nearly impossible to turn it on or off by one hand. You need to use both hands to change the switch, which could be a real problem when sleeping.
There is no instruction together with the fan, so if you want to open the fan to put batteries in, you can look on the back, and find two small screws, then use the screw driver to pry down the battery cover. A problem here is that the battery hatch connecting tabs are bent-in too far and could hardly contact with all the batteries (You need to bent these upward a bit).
